Shiner Parks and Recreation

Welhausen PlaygroundWelhausen Park occupies one-square-block park, located just west of downtown Shiner on Ave. E (Hwy 90-A). It features an historic bandstand, children’s playground, and various monuments detailing Shiner’s fascinating past.

On the first Thursday of each December, Welhausen Park hosts “Christmas in the Park”. This community gathering includes Christmas music, concert productions by the local school bands, and a visit from Santa Claus riding in a Shiner fire truck. The park is beautifully decorated with holiday lights starting December 1st.

The park is open year-round for locals and visitors to the area. Street parking is free, but there are not any services or restrooms. For hotel accommodations near the park, the Shiner Country Inn is located just across the street.
